Online users have shared a video of the Central Criminal Court, better known as the Old Bailey, sentencing of the Ekweremadus and their doctor, Obinna Obeta.
Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President, was found guilty of organ trafficking in March, and the judge today, May 5, sentenced him to nine years and eight months in prison. His wife Beatrice received a four-year and six-month sentence, and Obeta received a ten-year sentence.
According to the judge, Ekweremadu will serve 5–6 years in prison (approximately 2/3 of his 9–year prison term), while his wife will serve 2–3 years (about half of her 4–year sentence).
