On June 22, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend a meeting of international leaders in Paris, France, to examine and ratify the New Global Financial Pact, which places vulnerable nations at the top of the list for aid and investment.
This comes after the disastrous effects of the oil crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change.
The President will take part in the two-day Summit on June 22 and 23, which will examine ways to give fiscal space to nations facing challenging short-term financial challenges, particularly the most indebted; mobilize creative financing for nations at risk from climate change; promote development in low-income countries; and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
In order to provide access to finance and investment that will leverage inclusive growth, President Tinubu and other world leaders, multilateral organizations, financial experts, and economists will examine the recovery of economies from the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects and rising cases of poverty more comprehensively.
The Summit will be held in Palais Brongniart and will be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Senior government officials and members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council will travel with the President. On Saturday, he will travel back to Abuja.
Tinubu’s journey to France for the summit will be his first official one since taking office.
