The Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed Tinubu, a former senator and governor of Lagos State, the winner of the presidential election held in February 2023.
Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, came in second place with a total of 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, came in third place with a total of 6,101,533 votes, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the candidate of the NNPP, came in fourth place with 1,496,687 votes. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress received a total of 8,794,726 votes, defeating his closest rival.
