A list of prominent Nigerians who will be in charge of organizing a week-long presidential inauguration ceremony to bring in the APC’s Muslim/Muslim ticket, which was violently opposed by Christians and Churches in Nigeria, has emerged.

Days separate Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima from taking office as the nation’s president and vice president, respectively.

A former senator from Borno North and current National Deputy Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Abubakar Kyari, was named by Tinubu as the Coordinator and Director of Finance and Budget of the Committee in a letter to Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Stella Okotete, the Executive Director for Business Development at the Nigeria Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank, will be in charge of the week-long event’s secretariat, planning, and monitoring, and Mr. Makinde Araoye, a former APC candidate for governor of Ekiti State, will be in charge of the venue, parades, and swearing-in ceremonies.

While Dr. Betta Edu, the current National Women Leader of the APC and the Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Health, would oversee the medical team for the inauguration committee, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the APC Presidential Campaign Spokesperson, will be in charge of media and publicity.

Col. Abdulazeez Yar’Adua, the younger brother of the late Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, would be in charge of the inauguration’s security and ceremonial procession.

Despite being referred to as Mrs. Zainab Buba Marwa in most news reports, Zainab Buba Marwa, who is thought to be Buba Marwa’s daughter, made the list. But senior Zainab, the late NDLEA boss’s Imo-born wife, passed away on January 22. The pre-inauguration dinner and gala night for the committee will be organized by Marwa’s daughter.

The committee also includes Samira Saddik (Children’s Day), Donald Wokoma (Protocol and Invitation), Abuh Andrew Abuh (Accommodation), Dr. Danladi Bako (Inaugural Lecture), Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir (Transportation and Logistics), and Abuh Danladi Bako (Accommodation).

Recall that Boss Mustapha had originally received the names of Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, to be included as the President-elect Tinubu’s representatives in the Transition Committee.

On May 29, 2023, Tinubu is anticipated to be sworn in as president.
