The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to the Supreme Court, intimidated and terrorized its judges through social media.
When ruling on the PDP’s petition to nullify the election of President-elect Bola Tinubu on the grounds that his running mate, Kashim Shettima, had engaged in double nominating himself, Justice Inyang Okoro of the supreme court made this statement.
The appeal was dismissed by the five-member panel, which also determined that the appellant lacked locus standi to bring the lawsuit.
Okoro ruled that the appellant attempted to deceive the Supreme Court by asserting that the lower court had determined that there had in fact been a duplicate nomination and denounced the PDP’s use of social media as “appalling and unprofessional”.
Okoro stated: “The appellant’s use of social media to terrify and intimidate the judges of the supreme court is deplorable and unprofessional.
“The appeal has no merit and is rejected. I uphold the lead judge’s decision to award costs.
