The well-known American rapper Big Pokey, whose real name is Milton Powell, has passed away.
The 45-year-old singer passed away on stage at a bar in Beaumont, Texas, on Saturday night.
Video from the event showed the rapper, who was born in Houston, talking with a DJ on stage while holding a microphone in his hand when he heavily exhaled, stumbled, and collapsed.
On the rapper’s official Instagram profile, a statement confirmed the incident.
“We are saddened to announce the demise of our beloved Milton “Big Pokey” Powell.
“Big Pokey passed away. His loved ones, close friends, and devoted followers all adored him. We will make information regarding his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects in the upcoming days. We ask that at this trying time you respect his family’s privacy. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit’ in the Litter.”
