Abia State Governor Alex Otti has ordered the immediate freezing of all state government accounts as well as those of its agencies located in every bank and financial institution in the state as well as in the federation.
Additionally, he has directed the heads of all dissolved agencies and parastatals in Abia State to pass over control to those who are in line to succeed them after dissolving all boards of such agencies and parastatals.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the governor issued the directives.
“This warning instructs all banks and other financial institutions in the nation to stop immediately honoring any checks, documents, instruments, or directives of any sort that are not explicitly authorized by or originating from him.
In the same manner, Governor Otti “has ordered the immediate dissolution of all boards of the Abia State Government agencies and parastatals and further ordered the chief executives of these organizations to hand over to those next in line to them.”
The author learned that employees of these organizations, particularly those who were due some months’ worth of wage arrears, were jubilant upon hearing the news of the firing of the former top executives of the disbanded boards.
