Peter Gregory Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the previous election, Tuesday, submitted an additional 188 exhibits in an effort to substantiate his claims of irregularities in the administration of the February 25 presidential election. He did this in opposition to the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election.
The exhibits, which primarily consisted of the results sheets and reports used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election, were presented to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) and accepted as exhibits to be used in determining whether Tinubu’s reelection as president was lawful or not.
Obi submitted forms EC40GPU and EC40G1, as well as reports created by the electoral commission following the election, through Senior Advocate of Nigeria Peter Afoba, SAN.
A breakdown revealed that 52 EC40GPU forms were tendered in five Local Government Areas of Sokoto, 45 EC40GPU forms in 10 Local Government Areas of Niger State, 23 in seven Local Government Areas of Osun, and 17 in three Local Government Areas of Edo State.
Additionally, Obi submitted 15 EC40G forms in 8 LGAs of Osun State, 12 EC40G1 forms in 12 LGAs of Edo, 15 EC40G forms in 4 LGAs of Sokoto, and 9 EC40G1 forms in 2 LGAs of Sokoto.
The presidential candidate for the Labour Party also submitted five reports on the conduct of the election in Niger State and eight in Edo to support his claims of irregularities during the poll.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), INEC, Tinubu, Kashim Shetima, and other parties opposed the exhibits’ admission; nonetheless, the exhibits were allowed by the court’s presiding justice, Haruna Simon Tsammani.
Obi also presented INEC Results Viewing (IRev) reports during the proceedings on Tuesday for 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State, 20 in Ogun State, 16 in Ekiti State, 19 in Rivers State, and 25 in Akwa Ibom State.
Meanwhile, the Court has scheduled a June 14 hearing for the petition.
