Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu’s fight for self-determination, according to activist lawyer Chief Mike Ozekhome, is legitimate.

Ozekhome claimed that Kanu’s fight for self-determination was supported by Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights, as well as Articles 3 and 4 of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People of 2007.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria emphasized that Kanu’s agitation was not unlawful while speaking at the Handshake Across The Niger 2 in Enugu State on Friday.

He requested that Kanu’s immediate release be mandated by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Ozekhome: “For the information of those harboring the thought that it was an illegality or unconstitutionality, his self-determination agitation, is in line with the Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948); African Charter of Human and People’s Rights; Article 3&4 of United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People (2007), among others, every one of these statues has Nigeria as a signatory. All of these statues include Nigeria as a signature.

“Please sir, I beg you, you can order Nnamdi Kanu’s release today.

“You can do that through the Federation’s Attorney General, who has the authority to end the lawsuit.”
