Divine Oduduru, a sprinter from Nigeria, has been banned for six years after he committed two doping offenses.
The decision to do so was made public on Thursday by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
There was “overwhelming evidence” against him, according to AIU.
The offenses included trying to employ a forbidden substance or method and possessing prohibited materials.
Oduduru’s case was connected to that of Blessing Okagbare, a teammate who was doped in 2022 and given an 11-year suspension.
Oduduru, meanwhile, insisted on his innocence all through the investigation.
The 27-year-old, whose best time in the 100 meters is 9.86 seconds, was eliminated in the Tokyo 100-meter heats but advanced to the 200-meter semi-finals.
The 2014 World Junior Athletics Championships saw him win silver in the 200 meters.
