Tobi Amusan, the world women’s 100m hurdles champion has responded after the Athletics Integrity Unit exonerated her of any wrongdoing for missing three tests.
The AIU temporarily suspended the Nigerian athlete in July after finding out that she had missed three tests.
The suspension imposed on her for failing to provide her whereabouts last month was removed by AIU on Thursday, August 17.
The 26-year-old Amusan can now compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, which gets underway on Saturday in Budapest, Hungary, thanks to the approval.
An enthusiastic Amusan expressed her excitement on her Facebook page on Thursday, writing: “This morning, I found out that the independent tribunal that heard my case has concluded that I did not break the whereabouts regulations and as a result, I will not be sanctioned and none of my results will be barred.
“I am thrilled to put this behind me, and I look forward to defending my title at next week’s World Championships.
” I generally have been and consistently will be an ally of clean sport.
“To my five fingers, God is the greatest and I genuinely appreciate y’all for the support.”
At the tournament in Oregon the previous year, Amusan set the current world mark for the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds.
