According to China, if Nigeria wishes to end poverty, it must make investments in security, food, housing, and education.
At the Hausa book launch for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s “Up and Out of Poverty” on August 22, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, noted that there are many lessons in the book for Nigeria because the two nations have so many things in common.
The ambassador stated that the book was the one the president utilized to abolish extreme poverty between 2012 and 2022, despite the fact that it was created in 1988 and contains the current president’s ideas on how to do it.
According to him, poverty is based on three assurances and two fundamental requirements.
“For the basic needs, we have first, food and secondly, clothing. For the three guarantees, we have compulsory education, basic medical care, and safe housing,” he said.
He advised that: “Nigeria needs to fix the educational sector. The country has a lot of dropouts and we all know that without education, a country cannot move forward.”
“Nigeria needs to fix the medical challenges it is facing to eradicate poverty.
“The measures that China took were to boost the economy. The economy is a decisive factor to eliminate poverty. Nigeria needs to rely on its strength, natural resources and create more jobs for its citizens.”
