Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have been disqualified from the U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Morocco.
On Thursday, May 11, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, Algeria, the Nigerian team fell to Burkina Faso 2-1 in the quarterfinal encounter.
After sloppy play and wasted opportunities from the Eaglets, Burkina Faso scored when forward Camara tapped home from close range.
Later, twelve minutes into the second half, Camara scored twice from the penalty spot.
Abubakar Abdullahi of Nigeria gave the Golden Eaglets little hope in the 67th minute as he cut their deficit after receiving a cross from substitute Daniel.
The Golden Eaglets were eliminated from the under-17 World Cup due to their 2 – 1 defeat, and Burkina Faso completed the quartet of African nations competing in the competition. Morocco, Mali, and Senegal make up the other teams.
