NCAA to shut down airlines without valid insurance coverage

Any aircraft operated by a small airline without adequate insurance coverage might be grounded, according to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Captain Musa Nuhu, the director general of the NCAA, informed all airline operators of this in a recent letter with the reference NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/369.

Airlines that disregard the warning will face penalties, the regulatory agency said.

The NCAA emphasized that “all airlines and related aviation service providers must not operate without adequate and valid insurance cover, submitting to the Authority copies of valid insurance certificates, evidence of premium payment, and other policy documents of insurance cover of not less than three months.

“The Authority wants to state that non-adherence to this Regulation will attract immediate sanctions, including grounding the specific aircraft and taking enforcement action against any airlines or service providers that defaulted.”
