Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, took the oath of office and loyalty on Monday for a second four-year term. He said that his election for a second term was not based on his qualifications, but rather on a divine mandate.
Mohammed and Muhammad Auwal Jatau, his deputy, took the oaths of office and allegiance at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, the state capital, under the direction of Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the state’s chief judge.
The governor said, “I accept this call to serve, not because I see myself as the most qualified, but because it is a divine mandate over which I have no choice,” in front of the enormous throng that watched his second term inauguration.
