Seven days were given to the actress to pay up her debt or face consequences.
Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has been given seven days by the Lagos State Government to pay the amount of N18,640,092.00 in personal income tax or face imprisonment.
The Lagos government accused the actress in a letter that it had delivered to her of owing N7,376,000.00 in past taxes for the year 2022 and N11,264,092 for the tax year 2021.
Iyabo Ojo replied to the letter on Monday, criticizing the process used to calculate the “exorbitant tax bill” she got.
On her Instagram feed, she posted a photo of the bill and wrote: “@jidesanwoolu @lagosstategovt, please, how do you guys come up with these absurd personal income taxes you send on a daily basis?”
After paying all forms of taxes for one’s businesses, residence, and everything else, you still come up with all this large sum and give me 7 days to pay up, lol.
“Last time, you guys requested me to visit your office; I did so. You wanted me to explain and disclose my revenue, which I did with the help of my tax expert, but you didn’t reply to my letter because you want me to pay you an extravagant sum that I cannot afford; does that make me a thief, ni? I ask once more, “How do you folks come up with such outrageous bills?”
