Kidnapped RSBC Director of News regains freedom

Mrs. Priestba Anthony-Wokocha, a journalist from Port Harcourt who was abducted by unidentified gunmen last week, is finally free.

According to a family source who told Port Harcourt radio station Today FM about the event, Mrs. Anthony-Wokocha, the director of news at Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, was freed yesterday night by her kidnappers.

However, the family member said that it is unknown if a ransom was paid in exchange for her release.

The Rivers State Police Command has not yet provided the media with confirmation of the development in the meantime.

The family of Mrs. Anthony-Wokocha had first been approached by the kidnappers, who demanded payment of N150m for her release before lowering the demand to N10m.

Anthony-Wokocha was abducted at gunpoint last Thursday at around 8 o’clock on her way home from work after her car experienced a problem.
