Justice Chima Centus (CC) Nweze of the Supreme Court of Nigeria is reportedly dead.
Despite the fact that his family and the supreme court has not yet commented on his passing, a source said he passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
Justice Nweze is well known for his dissenting ruling from the majority of the panel in 2020, which certified Emeka Ihedioha of the People Democratic Party the winner of the governorship election in Imo State for 2019.
He was also one of the justices that denied Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, his request to view the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission in order to contest President Muhammadu Buhari’s election victory in 2019.
Nweze also delivered the contentious Supreme Court ruling, which declared Ahmad Lawan, the then-President of the Senate, to be the legitimate APC candidate for the Yobe North Senatorial District in the general election scheduled for February 25, in a split decision of three against two.
On September 25, 1958, Justice Nweze was born in Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State.
