In honor of the 63rd anniversary of the country’s independence, the Federal Government has designated Monday, October 2 a public holiday.
This was said in a statement made on Thursday in Abuja by Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
She claimed that Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, congratulated all Nigerians both at home and abroad when the Federal Government made the announcement on their behalf.
Nigerians were reassured by Tunj-Ojo of the government’s continuous commitment to overcoming the nation’s difficulties.
“It is today a known fact that difficult socio-economic and security challenges are global, and Nigeria is not isolated.”
However, the minister claimed that until relief arrives, the government is making genuine attempts to address the many and different problems.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed that if everyone worked together in unison, the nation could achieve its greatness and maintain its preeminent place in the community of nations.
He claimed that Nigeria is without a doubt the top black nation in the world because of its warm welcoming nature, love, boundless human capital, and abundance of land.
This, he claimed, is Africa’s pride and the ‘Renewed Hope’ of President Bola Tinubu’s light of hope.
The minister wished the people a happy independence day and reminded that Nigeria’s founding fathers worked together despite their differences in language, ethnicity, and religion to secure the country’s freedom, which is now enjoyed by all.
As a fair tribute to the heroes of the past, the minister promised that the current administration will ensure a better Nigeria for all citizens through the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
