Former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on Wednesday, said he would end the Russia/Ukraine war in 24 hours if he was the US President.
Trump said this on Wednesday during a CNN town hall in New Hampshire that was broadcast live to the audience. He said that in order to accomplish this, he would negotiate with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimirovich Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, respectively.
“I’ll meet with Putin. I’ll meet with Zelensky. Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. And within 24 hours, that war will be settled. It’ll be over,” Trump said.
It should be recalled that Russia invaded and occupied parts of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, marking a significant escalation of the 2014-started Russo-Ukrainian War. The invasion has caused Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II and tens of thousands of deaths on both sides./
Trump didn’t say whether he thinks Putin is a war criminal for the alleged atrocities he committed in Ukraine.
He stated, “If you say he is a war criminal, it will be much harder to make a deal to stop this thing.”
“He will fight a lot harder than he would under any other circumstance. If he were a war criminal; people will grab him and execute him. That is something that will be discussed in the future.
Additionally, the former president stated that he believes that “Putin made a mistake” when he invaded Ukraine.
Trump responded, “His mistake was going in,” when asked for more information. If I were president, he never would have entered.”
Despite having been criminally indicted and remaining under multiple other investigations on serious allegations, Trump, 76, is a frontrunner to be the Republican Party’s nominee and has already announced his bid for a comeback in 2024.
