Oleksandr Usyk, the WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight world champion in boxing, has now formally agreed to a one-year professional football deal with FC Polissya of the Ukrainian Premier League.
Usyk joined the team as a replacement in a friendly last year and is now eligible to play professionally for them.
Usyk has signed a formal professional contract and will wear the number 17 shirt for the next season, the team announced on Wednesday, July 19.
Usyk replaced Polissya in February 2022 during their 2-1 friendly victory against Veres at the interval.
Polissya was playing in the second division of Ukrainian football at the time, although they have since been promoted.
