The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, announced on Friday that a national strike would begin on Wednesday of the following week.
The union made this disclosure at a meeting of its National Executive Council, NEC, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The meeting, according to Channels TV, was not unrelated to President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of fuel subsidies and the accompanying increase in the price of petrol at the pump.
All of the NLC’s associate union presidents, general secretaries, treasurers, state chairs and secretaries of the NLC state councils, the chair of the NLC youth committee, and members of the NAC make up the NEC.
