Mohammed Badaru, the Minister of Defence, has stated that the Federal Government is not talking with terrorists in Zamfara State to gain the release of the abducted students from Federal University, Gusau.
Badaru called the claim made by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal “misleading.”
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Acting Director of Press and Public Relations, Hope Attari, Badaru stated that President Bola Tinubu has issued a marching order to the military and other security agencies to ensure the release of those kidnapped.
“The Federal Government is working assiduously round the clock to ensure that the girls and others return home,” he said.
Badaru reassured Zamfara people and Nigerians that efforts were being made to expedite the homecoming of female students and others from Federal University Gusau.
He expressed confidence that the joint security task force was working nonstop to save the pupils.
The minister stated that the president’s directive was beginning to bear fruit, since 13 of the abducted students and three others were released on Monday.
“This feat was achieved through the professional efforts of the military,” he said.
