In honor of this year’s Workers Day commemoration, Monday, May 1, has been declared a public holiday.
This was revealed on Friday by the interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola.
In Nigeria, the Eid ul-Fitr festivities were observed just a week ago.
Aregbesola praised Nigerian employees for their grit, perseverance, and sacrifice in a statement released on Friday and signed by Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Interior.
The greatness of the nation and the respect Nigeria today enjoys in the community of countries, he continued, are largely the result of the efforts of its citizens.
According to him, “There is dignity in labor; we must be dedicated and committed to the work we do because it is essential to nation-building.”
