According to an Economic Financial Crimes report, charges of corruption have led to the invitation of at least eight former ministers who worked for former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to information obtained from the invitation letters, the former top government officials were invited to attend and provide an account of how they used funds allotted to their ministries for specific projects while they were in charge of those ministries.
Before Abdulrasheed Bawa was removed from his position as head of the committee, it was learned that the letters had been sent to the previous ministers.
According to sources within the commission, the anti-graft agency has started its investigations.
Apart from Pauline Tallen, the former minister of women’s affairs, who was invited last week due to allegations of N2 billion in fraud and “part of the money allegedly diverted from the African First Lady Peace Mission Project,” the source claimed that roughly seven other people had also been invited.
Recall that Sale Mamman, a former power minister under the previous president Buhari, was detained and arrested by the commission last month in relation to an alleged N22 billion scam involving electricity projects.
In a similar vein, it was discovered that Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the recently-retired minister of police affairs, had also been called to testify over the management of the Police Trust Fund.
Under the condition of anonymity, the source added that Dingyadi will respond to claims that he had bought used cars for the Nigerian Police and passed them off as brand-new.
“Well, I don’t know about the letter and I haven’t seen it.” The minister of police affairs, Dingyadi, said to one of our correspondents over the phone, “Perhaps they submitted it to the office; I will inquire from the office.”
