In parallel sting operations in Awka, Anambra State, and Enugu Township, Enugu State, agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, apprehended 32 suspected internet fraudsters.
Stanley Okechukwu, Chukwudi Michael, Nnamdi Christian, Nnaife Onyedika, Pascal Akachukwu, Ekeme Christian Luke, Denis Chidozie, and Ebuka Mmaduka were named as the suspects.
Others include Hillary Chiemele Chukwudizie, Chinedu Onwuegbusi Ignitus, Onuoha Ifeanyi Anthony, Akunne Prince Ikenna, Igwe Nnaemeka Shedrack, Nonso Henry Ozo Ekwe, Ebuka Obike Boniface, and Goodluck Ameachi Ifeanyi.
The rest are: Bassey Nnolue Jason, Chinedu Nnolue Kingsley, Okpe Matthew, Emmanuel Abonyi, Igwenagu Kenechukwu Collins, Joachim Okpe, Kelechi Ibenyenwa, David Chiemerie, Kingsley Ngwu, Ndubuisi Anthony, Collins Chidubem, Innocent Chisom, Kalu Nnachi and Chukwuemeka Henry.
Based on reliable information about their alleged unlawful online activity, they were arrested.
Cell phones, laptops, and two Lexus ES 350 and Lexus RX 330 vehicles have all been recovered from them.
When investigations are complete, they will be charged to court, the anti-graft bureau added.
