A tourist from Royal Caribbean is fortunate to still be alive after narrowly avoiding a harrowing fall from the 10th deck of a cruise ship.
A 42-year-old female passenger on RC’s Mariner of the Seas ship apparently fell overboard on Sunday, June 25, about 27 nautical miles south of Punta Cana, prompting crew members to immediately initiate a rescue effort to find the victim.
Thank goodness, the crew ultimately located her and transported her to safety.
During the hunt, Matthew Kuhn, who recorded the rescue footage, told Fox35 that he feared the worst. “I was like, oh no, someone just died.” Everyone, according to him, was on their balcony at the time and cheered when she was eventually located.
Despite the high fall, the woman didn’t need medical assistance, but she was sent to the hospital for observation. After the experience, the ship proceeded on its course and is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on July 1.
