The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Central Bank of Nigeria have committed to working together to promote financial inclusion.
This was the outcome of the most recent strategy conferences between BMGF and CBN management.
Speaking during the meeting, the acting governor of the CBN, Mr. Folashodun Shonubi, reaffirmed the commitment of the central bank to continuously work with the BMGF and other development partners to explore cutting-edge solutions for promoting access to financing.
Deputy Governor of the Financial System Stability (FSS), Mrs. Aisha Ahmad, and Shonubi stated that although great progress had been achieved in several areas of financial inclusion, there were still certain obstacles to achieving the targeted degree of financial inclusion in Nigeria.
He urged the Bank and the BMGF to work together more closely.
Bill Gates, the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, declared in his speech that the organization would keep working with Nigeria on issues relating to health, agriculture, and financial services.
Gates expressed delight that his organization’s assistance was accelerating Nigeria’s growth.
