Following the death of three of its members in a boat accident, the leadership of the Nigeria Medical Students Association, NIMSA, has expressed concern over the Cross River State Government’s failure to contact them.
The NIMSA National President, Dr. Ejim Clement Egba, and Dr. Zuo Sese, another important figure, spoke on Sparkling FM’s Let’s Talk Nigeria morning debate show and voiced their regret that the state administration had ignored them and the relatives of the victims.
“The fact that no official or even the state administration has contacted us or even spoken with the survivors three days after the sad tragedy is not funny.”
“For God’s sake, the horrible tragedy occurred at Cross River, where we are located.
“We thank Professor Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, who has been motherly and touched over the tragic and traumatic experience,” Egba stated.
Although they, the officials, were still present, they claimed that the last of the survivors left Calabar on Tuesday morning.
Under the condition of anonymity, a government official said they will meet with them as soon as the preparatory procedures have been made and the Secretary to the State Government had concluded a meeting with the resort management by midday today.
Recall that on Saturday afternoon, before Governor Bassey Otu ordered the resort to close, state government representatives were also present at the Marina Resort.
