Burna Boy, Fireboy win big at 2023 BMI Awards

Burna Boy and Fireboy DML, two prominent musicians from Nigeria, shone well at the 2023 BMI London Awards.

This duo was one of over 20 tracks to receive one of the ‘Most Performed Work of the Year’ accolades.

The songs “Last Last” by Burna Boy and “Peru” by Fireboy featuring British singer Ed Sheeran were included.

Richard Isong, alias P2J, a different Nigerian record producer, took home the “Impact Award.”

The afrobeat-themed song “Woman” by American artist Doja Cat won the “Song of the Year” award, while British musician Gary Kemp received the “Icon Award.”
