The Nigerian Governors Forum is currently being hosted in the Presidential Villa by President Bola Tinubu.
Along with the re-elected governors of their respective states, new governors are also present at the gathering.
After Tinubu swore in Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation at midday, the meeting got started.
On Wednesday, the swearing-in ceremony took place briefly in the council room of the Presidential Villa.
In front of government representatives, Akume swore the oaths of allegiance and office.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, and the spouse of the new SGF Mrs. Regina Akume were all in attendance for the swearing-in.
While Tinubu is currently holding meetings with the governors of the 36 states under the umbrella of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Akume has since gotten used to his new position as SGF.
