In order to support his case against President Bola Tinubu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday submitted 118 evidence to the presidential election petition tribunal.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Tinubu won the poll on February 25. Atiku and his party are contesting this outcome before a five-person tribunal presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani.
The petitioners claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) violated the Electoral Act, 2022, and there were several anomalies throughout the election.
They highlighted discrepancies in Tinubu’s age and academic credentials to argue that he was not legitimately elected by the majority of valid votes cast in the election.
At the hearing on Tuesday, the former vice president made the first batch of evidence available through one of his attorneys, Eyitayo Jegede, a PDP contender for governor of Ondo State in the 2020 election.
Printouts of data from the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and a list of the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) used in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are included as exhibits.
Others are official copies of the state and FCT results for the presidential election.
