Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti received bail on Tuesday from the Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State.
The court also mandated that the investigation into the alleged attack on a police officer be concluded by the police within 48 hours.
S. A. Adebese, the police prosecutor, had asked that the defendant be held in custody for 21 days.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) would have three weeks to prepare legal counsel, according to the counsel.
However, the defense attorney, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana, argued against the plea in his case.
Falana pleaded with the judge not to detain his client, that he was not aware of any application to that effect.
After his car was halted on the Third Mainland Bridge, the renowned Fela Kuti’s son was taken into custody for hitting the officer.
