Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party, recently declared he is not a citizen of any other nation.
The former governor of Anambra state discussed a variety of topics in a recent interview, including his reported recent detention in the United Kingdom on suspicion of impersonation.
Peter Obi was very clear that he had no dual citizenship and even claimed that he had lost his right to live permanently in the UK. He also said that his honorary citizenship in Dallas was just a formal welcome to the state.
On Monday night, May 1, Obi told Arise News, “My honorary citizenship in Dallas, Texas, means nothing; it doesn’t even give me Visa-free entry to the United States.”
“I am a Nigerian who believes in Nigeria. I have never applied for citizenship there and I will never apply for citizenship of any other country.”
The LP candidate declared that he wasn’t in any way driven to become the next president of Nigeria as he wrapped up the conversation.
“I don’t have an urgent need to become president. I want Nigeria to succeed so badly.”
