According to the presidency, Nigeria’s security has significantly improved under President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership.
Additionally, Nigeria’s Armed Forces rose from seventh to fourth place in Africa, it was claimed that Buhari outperformed former President Goodluck Jonathan in terms of security.
In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, revealed this.
In the eight years since he took office, he said that Buhari has made Nigeria safer.
Without Buhari’s intervention, the insecurity in Nigeria, he said, would have been worse.
“In terms of combat readiness and equipment, Nigeria’s armed forces were ranked sixth in Africa in 2014. Due to the President’s significant investments in military equipment, training, and morale-boosting, we are currently ranked fourth. Our efforts were fruitless because there were only four or five functional aircraft in the nation in 2015. Do you know how many different types of modern aircraft we have today, including the Super Tucano and other cutting-edge models?
“This administration has done well in terms of arming the military because, had it not, by this point, banditry, insurgency, and terrorism would have completely taken over Nigeria.
“Yes, since it would have been worse, it has done well. How many explosives detonate each day in Abuja as of 2015? You wouldn’t be searched if you went to church, right? Would you visit the recreation center if you weren’t subjected to a bomb scan? Recreational areas were deserted.
“You witnessed the final Sallah approximately a week ago, along with horseback riding, durbars, and other festivities, even in Borno.”
Since the election of Buhari in 2015, the level of insecurity in Nigeria has been a significant source of worry. Nigerians have continued to die as a result of insecurity, which includes banditry and terrorism in the North and unidentified gunmen and kidnapping in the South.
