Three more ministers were sworn into President Bola Tinubu’s 48-member cabinet on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ayodele Olawande, Balarabe Lawal, and Jamila Bio Ibrahim are the recently appointed ministers.
They took the oath of office in the State House’s Council Chamber at 12:15 p.m., just in time for Tinubu to preside over the Federal Executive Council meeting.
This occurred almost two weeks after the Senate approved the three on October 4, 2023, following a screening.
President Tinubu proposed Ibrahim and Olawande to be Minister of Youth and Minister of State for Youth, respectively, on September 17, 2023.
Additionally, he asked the Senate to confirm Balarabe Lawal as a Kaduna minister.
Lawal took over his principal’s position in Tinubu’s cabinet as the environment minister. Lawal had previously worked as the government’s secretary under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Ibrahim is a 37-year-old Kwara State native. In addition to being a politician, she practices medicine, is a specialist in development, and supports the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
She was the APC Young Women Forum’s National President before her most recent assignment.
Olawande, 34, is a youth leader in the All Progressives Congress and an expert in community development.
Prior to his nomination, Olawande was the former president Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser on innovation in the vice president’s office, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. He held the position from 2019 until 2023.
The Council observed a minute of silence in memory of Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, who passed away on July 1, 2023, before the start of the meeting.
Ajose-Adeogun passed away at 96 years old. The military government of Murtala Mohammed appointed him Minister of Federal Capital in 1976, and he held the post until 1979.
This is President Tinubu’s second meeting since taking office on May 29, 2023.
