The Brazil team has left out Manchester United attacker Antony for their World Cup qualifying matches.
This follows the publication by UOL in his home country of new claims made by his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin.
In a statement he issued in June, Antony insisted that Ms. Cavallin had unjustly accused him of domestic abuse.
The athlete stated on Monday that he “trusts ongoing police investigations” to make clear the “truth about my innocence”.
Manchester United has not yet responded to the fresh accusations.
Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal has been chosen by Brazil to take Antony’s place.
This month, the Selecao will play Bolivia and Peru.
