Kaduna is one of the 14 states and 31 towns that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) classified as potentially experiencing heavy rains that might cause floods from July 4 to July 8.
The states and communities most at risk from the forecast, according to a statement by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator, NEMA, Lagos Territorial Office, are the following: Plateau: Langtang, Shendam; Kano: Sumaila, Tudun Wada; Sokoto: Shagari, Goronyo, Silame; Delta: Okwe; Kaduna: Kachia; Akwa Ibom: Upenekang Jibia, Kaita, Bindawa, Katsina; Wara, Yelwa, and Gwandu; Kebbi.
Others include Borno State: Briyel, Jigawa: Gwaram, Kwara: Jebba, Niger: Mashegu, Kontagora, Zamfara: Shinkafi, Gummi
Ibrahim Farinloye hailed the Federal Ministry of Environment in Abuja’s Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) Central Hub for disseminating the information while urging stakeholders in the listed states to take preventative action to avoid the loss of life and property.
