9th House: Gbajabiamila delivers final speech as Speaker

The House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, is currently making his final address as the Speaker of the House.

Mr. Gbajabiamila is giving his speech during the 9th House’s current farewell meeting.

Patricia Etteh and Ghali Na’Abbas, a former speaker, are present for the closing remarks.

In his remarks, Mr. Gbajabiamila praised the parliamentarians for their work over the previous four years, which included the passage of crucial laws including the Electoral Act and the Public Interest Act.

He expressed sadness at the 9th House’s inability to enact many bills relating to women that the House had rejected in 2022.

Mr. Gbajabiamila asked the incoming administration to assume responsibility for the House’s passage of gender laws.

You may recall that Gbajabiamila was chosen to serve as President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff.

On Tuesday, the new Assembly will take office.
