According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), 2,518 Nigerians have been evacuated from Sudan and have returned home.
Abdur-Rahman Balogun, head of the public relations and protocols division at NiDCOM, provided an update on the exercise on Sunday.
The evacuation was carried out over the course of 15 planes, including 4 from Egypt’s Aswan and 11 from Port Sudan.
The most recent number is higher than the 2,371 citizens that were transported home on Saturday, May 13.
140 individuals, including three newborns and 30 children, have just arrived, raising the total number of evacuees to 2,518, according to Balogun.
Over 100,000 people have been displaced from Khartoum, the capital, and other cities into neighboring countries as a result of the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which began in April.
